Yahoo bought Xobni ("inbox" spelled backwards), a San Franscisco-based startup company. Its products aim to make it easier to use your email and address book.
The price hasn't been disclosed, but it was estimated by AllThingsD that the amount is somewhere between $30 million - $40 million. Xobni's team seems excited about the acquisition; they mentioned in their blog that Yahoo truly "gets" them. They will now join Yahoo's team to integrate Xobni's technology into Yahoo Mail.
Yahoo has been aggressive in acquiring several startup companies in recent history to improve their product line. It has recently bought Qwiki, Bignoggins and one of the most popular blogging platform, Tumblr.
